Author’s note: I’m not good at sonnets. But I tried to write one, anyway. Challenges help you grow, or at the very least frustrate you into trying harder.
Can I look back to golden pasts
without the pangs of sweet regret?
Is there some spell I’d learn to cast,
so these memories, I won’t forget?
A love that blossomed in a park
concerts followed, trips and falls
a blinding romance, kept in dark
one that no one knew at all.
We swore this love defined our fates.
We’d fight the world and disobey.
Summer ended, both too late
I didn’t propose, you couldn’t stay.
It’s been a while since last we spoke.
Why change that now? Keep them choked.
